Terms of Service Approval for Organizations Joining the Leadership Pipeline

USMB and USMB Youth will oversee the Leadership Pipeline. Each church and organization must agree to the following terms of service in order to join. The goal is to provide quality job opportunities for each candidate as well as qualified candidates for each organization. If you have any questions about these terms please contact us at info@usmbyouth.com.

    1. Point Person. Each organization will provide one point person that connects the organization to the Leadership Pipeline. They will work with a Leadership Pipeline mobilizer to help craft a dynamic church profile, post job opportunities, and find candidates. They will also be responsible for an end of internship survey and debrief.
    2. Ministry Mentor. Each organization will provide a ministry mentor for each intern. This could be the same person as the point person (see above) or someone else. This is the person to whom the intern will report. The mentor should have some authority within and knowledge of your organization. The mentor’s responsibility is to make sure the intern is fulfilling their job description and gaining ministry experience. Mentors are caring supervisors interested in the spiritual growth and professional development of their interns. The goal is for the intern to receive direct training and guidance from this person. Thus, an adequate time commitment is required of this person.
    3. Ministry Related Experiences. Each intern is expected to gain leadership experience in the ministry they feel called to. While some paperwork is required as part of the ministry experience, we don’t want them to spend their time as an office assistant. The goal of the internship is for the candidate to gain practical experience in their related ministry field. Each organization is required to provide interns with experience in, for example, leading Bible studies, preaching, developing a budget, training adult leaders, conflict resolution, leading a worship team, and/or other direct leadership opportunities. The more direct leadership opportunities you can provide, the more beneficial the internship will be for the intern.
    4. Weekly Training Time. One of the unique aspects of The Leadership Pipeline is the training we provide to each candidate throughout their internship. This will be a combination of online meetings (over Zoom) and personal study packets. We will have ministry experts from around the world provide ministry-specific training each week. Each organization will provide the time and space needed for the candidate to attend these online meetings and work through the personal study packets. Your ministry mentors (see #2 above) will be part of this process as overseers (providing accountability throughout this process).
    5. Provide Paid Internship. Each organization will provide internship opportunities with pay. This is not a volunteer, unpaid opportunity. Which means the Pipeline expects interns to match their availability to their ministry mentor (so if the supervisor is full time, the intern is full time). For summer (10-12 weeks) internships we expect a full time experience. Internships during the school year or longer may be considered part time. Exceptions may be made for smaller churches that have bi-vocational leaders. Salaries and stipends vary based on experience, ministry responsibilities, location, and a variety of other factors. For salary suggestions please contact one of our pipeline mobilizers
    6. Aggreement with the U.S. or Canadian Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith. Each organization will be in agreement with either of these documents (depending on where they are located). You can find the U.S. Confession of Faith HERE and the Canadian Confession of Faith HERE.

At any time the organization may remove its membership from The Leadership Pipeline. The Leadership Pipeline has the right to remove an organization from The Pipeline if these terms are not agreed upon or fulfilled.
